Most online black jack experts suggest buying in for forty times the bet when sitting down at a blackjack table. Buying in at this level, relative to the minimum bet you anticipate placing allows you to both employ a betting strategy of choice, and allows you flexibility of riding out the dark side of the variance equation.

I suggest buying in at fifty times the average bet you place, as opposed to forty times minimum bet. Keep in mind, just because you buy in fifty times average bet does not mean you will ever allow yourself to lose fifty average bets. In fact, I recommend setting a floor for your starting bankroll, where you will immediately get up with chips in hand should your “feet” or bankroll touch this floor.

In addition to a downside limit, we wish to have a ceiling in mind. Should you hit your head on the ceiling, you will unconditionally cash out – regardless of betting strategy. As should be the case with any risk-reward strategy, we want to ensure the downside risk is less than the potential reward to the upside.

Set your Session Goal

Considering I have the entire day dedicated to blackjack play, time is not an issue – as it should not be when planning a session of blackjack. My goal is to play until I either trip my downside limit, which “stops” me out and causes me to cut losses, or to play until I hit my target reward. I will generally bounce around in between the ranges I have set, so if I get tired or feeling like cashing out, I will choose to do so at will.

If my goal is to win 50 bets in my session at the best online casino, I am looking to double my investment. In targeting 50 bets, I need to set a downside limit, to manage risk. I set my reward to risk ratio at two to one, so I risk only twenty-five bets in hopes of winning fifty bets. Should I trigger either limit, I am done with my session.
